Dear sweet girls
We went to my nephew's 8th grade graduation last night (GO ZACHARY!) and I was appaled and saddened by what some of the girls were wearing. So here are my thoughts for them.
Dear Sweet Girls,
I'm so sorry that we have failed you as a society, to uphold you and recognize your strength and depth inside. My heart aches when I think of how most of you judge yourself and others on appearances. Dear, sweet girls, please know that your beauty lies within and that God has created everything beautiful including you! I know sometimes you don't feel lovely, but you are loved always! You are loved for who you are and not for how you look. If you feel insecure dear, sweet girls, ask God to show you how beautiful you are to him! He will!

School's out!
Well another school year has come and gone. My oldest nephew graduates from 8th grade tonight, and we are making preperations to begin homeschooling (pre-K) our son in the fall. Time really does go by faster when you have kids. What cool summer activities do you want to be a part of?

Simple Obsession
Sometimes I feel as though I was born in the wrong century. I am obsessed with life in the 1800's. I can't get enough "Little House on The Prairie". I admire those who traveled west in search of their dreams. Willing to put their life on the line to give their families a new beginning. I long to be part of a time when ladies were still ladies and would blush at the touch of a gentlemens' hand. When women not only enjoyed cooking and cleaning for their families but prided themselves on doing so and were not looked down upon for it. If a woman told you today that she was fulfilled with no other occupation except for motherhood she would be called uneducated and would be pitied. I take pride in the fact that my main job is to care for my family. Now don't get me wrong and say that I am against women working. I am not. God gave different women different gifts. Don't pity anyone woman who is walking the path that God laid out for her. From executives to stay at home mom's we are all important to our creator. While I still long for a simpler time I can take comfort in the fact that one day I will be in the arms of my Jesus. Where the only endings are happy ones.
Blah Blah Blog!
It has come to my attention that my blog is B-O-R-I-N-G and one dimensional. So I think I'll shake things up a bit and not only post about my writing but about all aspects of my life....after all I'm not just a writer. Don't get me wrong, writing is a BIG part of my life but I am also a wife, mother, someone who enjoys singing and who is planning to start on the Homeschooling journey this fall with my son and so much more as God leads. So stay tuned, it may get interesting!!

Silly little poem
I wrote this when it was decided that it was my turn to introduce myself to the church chior. It's just a funny little something.....enjoy!!
Here's a little rhyme
that's all about me.
I'm a stay at home mom
to my son who is three.
I can handle a rifle,
though no one would guess.
I need to do laundry.
My house is a mess.
My husband's a good man.
He enjoys hunting doe.
How he puts up with me
I'll never know.
Wait, the phone's ringing.
Hello, mom, is that you?
Hold on just one second,
"Son, don't throw that shoe!"
Let's see where was I?
Oh yes, now I know.
I like singing and writing
and planting flowers to grow.
My life is quite simple,
uneventful and plain.
Except for the time
I lost my ring down the drain.
My goal is to be a good mother and wife.
With the Lord Jesus Christ
as the center of life.
He's why I'm happy.
His love makes me sing.
If you'd like this joy
just remember one thing.
Salvation is free.
Our sins Christ will bear.
Eternal glory with God.
I can't wait! See you there!

Question of the Week
Happy Monday everyone! In order to get the conversation started I thought I'd post a "Question of the Week!" I'd love to hear from you and look forward to sharing ideas with all of you. (Even if you are not a writer I'd love your feedback too!) So let's get this going shall we? This weeks question is.....
Have you ever been published? If so, where? If not, would you like to be? Where?

My latest devotion
Scarred for Life
By: Erin L. Dodson
The dimmed lights and smell of peppermint oil eased my tension as the masseuse rubbed my back. Soft background music began to lull me to sleep.
"How'd you get that scar?" Her voice startled me.
"I had heart surgery when I was an infant."
"Oh, is everything okay now?"
"Yes," I confirmed, "I'm fine. No more heart trouble." My scars are just a part of who I am, I thought as I allowed myself to slip back into my semi-conscious state.
After my massage I left the spa feeling refreshed yet unsettled. I never really think about my scar, but today I couldn't get if off my mind. "Every scar has a purpose." Those words washed over my spirit like a gentle wave. I was reminded of the scars of Jesus and the story they tell.
Christ's scars serve a purpose far greater than mine. 1 Peter 2:24 says, "By His wounds you have been healed." (NIV) The redemption of the world is visible when you see His hands and feet. On the day I'm called home I'll leave my scar behind and Christ's scars will become mine. Jesus is scarred for you and for me, for life.
